Care Home, Kirkliston
Planning Obtained: September 2020
Client: Lomond Health Care
Budget: £5m
Working closely with Lomond Health Care we gained planning consent for a 48 bed Care Home on the paddock at Almondhill House. With a wealth of experience between them, all of the directors at Lomond Health Care have a passion for care and are determined to continue their award winning success with their first new care home in the East of Scotland.
It is the objective of Lomond Health Care to build a state of the art facility for 48 older people. Care will be provided in units of 12 over two storeys to promote homely and small group living, promoting independence and links with the community.
The starting point for the design was to consider the site, it’s setting and the surrounding context.
The built form has been positioned to acknowledge and protect views to and from Almondhill House, whilst exploiting the views to the south using the natural topography.
The care home is predominantly two storeys, with a third storey offering communal space maximising the benefit of the views to the south for residents. The natural topography allows the building to be positioned within the landscape and provides the opportunity for the green roof to connect directly with the landscaped gardens to the north.
